I began teaching over twenty years ago, having started my career in the middle school sector and then moving to secondary after a short time. Within my extensive experience as an English teacher, I have effectively managed English departments in order to increase not only A*-C figures, but create significant gains in three and four levels of progress as well. I am committed to ensuring an exciting and engaging curriculum for all students, regardless of age or ability.
In my current role of Lead Practitioner at The Priory, I have developed the delivery of literacy across the curriculum and provided staff CPD for the further implementation of this, as well as delivering staff CPD on literacy engagement. I have marked for AQA (new spec English) and have enjoyed planning for the new GCSEs in Language and Literature, as well as the creativity that my current role allows.
