As the lead school for School Direct Teacher Training in North Hertfordshire, Hitchin Boys’ School has a highly successful track record of recruiting graduates to work in the education system and then progress to become fully-qualified teachers.

We are now looking for several recent graduates who would like to spend at least a year working in a school environment before deciding whether to apply to train to be a teacher.

The specific job role is that of COVER SUPERVISOR.  A specific Job Description is attached.

The main purpose of the job is to supervise classes during the school day when a teacher is absent.

We currently employ 5 cover supervisors however several of them are progressing on to fully-fledged teacher training next year.   After building their experience in the classroom and developing their classroom management skills, they are now ready to make the next step.

This is where you come in !

We are looking for the next generation of positive, motivated, energetic and enthusiastic individuals who want to work with children and young people and assist with their growth and development.

No experience is necessary as full on-the-job training will be provided.  However the successful candidates will need excellent communication skills, organisational ability, a teamwork ethic and a determination to succeed.
