This course runs throughout the academic year and comprises of 6 sessions rotating around host schools, to include a tour of the host school by the home candidates. It will provide participants the opportunity to work collaboratively with new teachers across the North Herts Teaching Alliance. Participants will take part in a classroom based action research project during which they will have the opportunity to jointly plan, team teach, share resources and visit each other’s school.
This course is designed for teachers who have completed their NQT year within the last two years. It is a practical programme designed to be a supportive bridge, enabling teachers to continue to develop their own classroom practice whilst also beginning to consider the next steps in their teaching careers.
On this programme participants will:
¨ Develop their own professional practice and skills in delivering to exam classes and a wide range of students
¨ Develop strategies for managing an increased workload
¨ Build networks with teachers new to the profession and other schools
¨ Share good practice
¨ Work with others to prepare to develop resources and deliver lessons
¨ Complete an action research project
¨ Observe colleagues in other settings
¨ Prepare for additional responsibilities
¨ Explore different ways to use research, observation and monitoring strategies to enhance teaching and leadership
¨ Learn more about themselves and working with others through reflecting on personal styles, use of emotional intelligence and overcoming barriers
